1983

In 1983, CDR Jack Gale RN Retd., formed Allied Marine Services, a sales consulting group working with British Naval equipment companies who wanted to offer their technology to the US DoD.

2003

The company enjoyed some early success with the sale of the main propulsion engines, vessel controls and other major items of equipment for the USCG Island Class and US Navy PC-1 Cyclone class patrol boats.

1995-2005

Recognizing the need for comprehensive US based logistics in support of this equipment, Allied Marine established a full-service facility in Houston, Tx., providing new equipment sales and comprehensive logistical support. This facility operated as a joint venture between Allied Marine and GEC Ltd., the UK based OEM. Following other successful new equipment sales, other joint ventures were formed with Alstom (France), MAN B&W (Germany), and JP Sauer & Sohn (Germany).

2005

In 2005, Allied Marine embarked on a series of acquisitions. The first of these companies, Environmental Systems (ESI), provided technical support for shipboard waste systems in service with the US Navy and others. Revenue at ESI grew by over 700% over the next 15 years. At the same time, a new holding structure was put in place, with all companies now operating as subsidiaries of AMS Group.

2008

In 2008 AMS Group established a new company, Northern Defense Industries, LLC., (NDI), in response to market demand for a security systems integrator that could offer technically agnostic solutions. At that time, most Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) solutions were being offered by equipment OEM’s who displayed a distinct preference for their own equipment, whether it was best qualified or not. NDI specializes in full-spectrum integrated security solutions for critical infrastructure, maritime & coastal, and transportation applications.

2012

Allied Defense Industries (ADI) joined AMS Group in 2012. ADI had been formed in 1978 and offers product distribution services for an extensive range of military products, supporting US and NATO customers. ADI is now known as AMS Distribution.

2014

AERO International was established in 1991 and joined AMS Group in 2014. AERO added licensed product manufacturing and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) to AMS Group capabilities and has since been absorbed into the AMS brand. It is now operating as part of AMS Engineered Solutions.

2021

System Technical Corporation (STC) was formed in 1996 and was acquired by AMS Group in 2021. The addition of STC has allowed AMS Group to greatly expand its manufacturing capabilities. It also became the first branch of AMS located on the West Coast of the United States. STC has since been absorbed into the AMS Group brand and is an invaluable part of AMS Engineered Solutions.

2022

In 2022, AMS Group acquired Hensoldt Inc from Hensoldt Gmbh. This company is responsible for the integration, service and support of a range of shipboard and coastal surveillance radars in service with the U.S. Navy, US Coast Guard and others.

2024

In 2024, AMS Group underwent a rebrand, absorbing its subsidiary companies to comprise three lines of business. The new brand structure includes AMS Engineered Solutions (comprised of STC and AERO), AMS Distribution (ADI), and Northern Defense Industries, which has remained an essential subsidiary within the AMS Group family.
